So a few months ago we were invited to the baptism of one of Braden's buddies. I was excited about taking him as this was probably the first person his age (and that he knows) get baptized. The baptism was taking place at the LDS church (Morman) and I was nervous about it already. What to wear...should I cover my knees? shoulders? how much cleavage is ok... you get the drift. I was so neurotic that I actually went next door to have my Mormon neighbors(not the family hosting the baptism) approve the outfit. While I was there I asked if I should bring a small gift for B's friend or if that kind of thing wasn't done in their church. They told me that would be very nice and appreciated. So I decide on this really cute cross to hang on his wall with a scripture verse on it. We all sign the back of it and wrap it up for him.
Fast forward about a month when I learn that Mormons only use the King James version of the bible... of course the thee/thou translation wasn't the one used on the cross. I felt a little bad but didn't worry too much about it. I even brought the small misunderstanding up to my friend (the boy's mom). She just kind of brushed it off as if it was no big deal and said it was hanging on his wall and not an issue. WHEW! Escaped that one ok!
Well, today I learn that Mormons don't really use the cross as a symbol. FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC! Now (3 months later) I am consumed with guilt over my ever increasingly inappropriate gift.
Moral of the story...you can never go wrong with a puzzle-LOL
Seriously my friend, you have to stop with this one. He loved the gift. He loved it because it was a sweet thought from a good buddy. I have to have you guys over so you can see that it is in fact hanging in his room...You worry too much!!!!
